Yaba Left Review
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
Yaba Left Review (YLR) will be the stomping ground for exploring nostalgia in all its ramifications. However, we prioritize poetry and nonfiction.
Entries that do not adhere to the guidance below will unfortunately be exempted from our reading process.
We encourage prospective contributors to consider reading works published on YLR to get a sense of our house style and thematic concerns.
We would periodically invite submissions and respond to these via Submittable.
We prefer submissions in .doc, .docs, and .rtf. Submissions in pdf or any other formats will not be accepted.
We accept only one submission at a time per category. While we accept simultaneous submissions, we expect to be notified once your work has been accepted elsewhere.
Please do not submit another work until you’ve heard from us regarding the status of your current submission. Should your work be accepted and published in any genre, we will not consider any more work from you within that calendar year.
We pay a modest honorarium for accepted work.
Poetry
You may submit up to 4 poems, each one not longer than 40 lines, and up to a maximum of 6 pages. We consider only previously unpublished poems. Poems that have appeared on online blogs, websites or other journals, even with the slightest modifications, are considered published.
Nonfiction
Submitted essays must be original and between 2,500 to 5,000 words.
We are open to commissioning book, film and theatre reviews. Interested reviewers can send their pitch to yabaleftreview@gmail.com or editor@yabaleftreview.com
Fiction
We accept previously unpublished short stories of up to 3500 words.
